Daylight is coming to an end The evening sky turns pink then red Day is done and one by one, the lights turn on again The lazy moon’s still waking up The setting sun is bedding down The dying of the light, that’s the time I like, twilight Ch: And anything could happen in the twilight Girls and boys getting ready for the big night The downtown bars ain’t open yet Nobody’s heart is broken yet And I’m not drunk enough to do something I’ll regret…….at least not yet This town looks sad in the daylight This town tries too hard to shine When twilight comes around, this town just about, looks right Between hope and disappointment Between prayers and broken dreams, I hope tonight might be the night I meet the one, who wants to hold me No more work for the next few days Change the sheets, fix up the place It’s not likely but, I might have company, for a change It’s the calm before the storm Some peace before the war Before I step into the night, I take a breath in the twilight
2.
Something’s not right it hasn’t been for a while I see it in your silence and the effort of your smile By the distance in your eyes How you’re always on your phone By just how many times you say you need to be alone When you lie in bed, pretending to be sleeping Your eyes are closed but I know by your breathing You’re always late home from work You’ve started going to the gym more I see your razor in the shower and I wonder who you’re doing this for Cos I know it’s not me CH: Let me down gently Don’t give me your honesty Don’t say you’re setting me free for somebody better than me, no no Just let me down gently Leave me some dignity Say you’ll never forget and you’ll always regret letting me go It’s gonna be hard, letting you go I can’t stop you leaving but I want you to know That for my own self-respect I might put up a front But I’m ready to change myself to whatever you want I’d do anything Leave me with some pride Say you really hate to hurt me Say you’re crying on the inside And you truly don’t deserve me But seeing as you're letting me go then give me something now to break my fall But better still…. Hold me tight, don’t let me down at all
3.
You say half my mind is a million miles away And there’s times it feels like you're the last job of my working day That you’re an afterthought, a background buzz, it’s all about me and not about us I’m sorry if I ever made you doubt - you’re all I care about I can play the guitar and sing out loud at the same time I can be on the phone and drive without running a red light I can shoot the breeze, make something to eat while drinking a beer without missing a beat But anytime I find myself around you ... there’s only you CH:When you’re with me, you are the only thing I see Your lips, your skin, your sweet love is everything I need And for a little while, my whole world is right there in your smile When it comes to loving you I think you’ll find - I got a one track mind Feels I’m pushed and pulled in every direction It’s either this or that, here or there and I lose my concentration There’s so little time, the clock is ticking, so much on my mind and my head is spinning But time stands still like a statue the second I lay my eyes on you I got too much on my plate I bite off more than I can chew I got a thousand and one things I don't know how I'll see them through I get all tied up with work A load of different things to do But I got a one track mind when it comes to loving you
4.
I knew it was wrong when I picked up your phone And I scrolled through just nosing around I was hurt and confused, I felt angry with you By some of the things that I found Seems you’ve been back in touch with, someone you were once with Is it nothing to worry about? Or are you holding a candle, hanging on to something that will Burn out what we have right now? Ch: Let them all go - lost loves and old flames Let sleeping dogs lie, let the sands of time bury their names Keep the past in the past, make the last one your last Let the memories all rust away Cos you’re breaking my heart when you look up lost loves and old flames You say you want closure, what you had is over That there’s still things to get off your chest I say that’s fine but your messages look like You’ve considered retracing old steps But if that’s what you need, to move on from me Then I’d say you’ve made a mistake Cos you won’t get back what you have from lost loves and old flames
5.
It’s the last song of the evening And the band’s winding down You’ve been getting on, having fun Now you’re thinking ‘bout home And you’re not sure how to say it You don’t know how they’d take it If you said that tonight you don’t want to sleep alone Well don’t say anything, just see what the night’ll bring And lead them out onto the floor CH: Take her hand, take his hand Now the music has begun And dance, dance with someone you love Hold her tight, hold him tight Whisper you’re the only one And just dance, just dance with someone you love When you’re trying to say sorry But you don’t have the words You’ve been arguing, over everything There’s times when love hurts And you’re not sure how to say it You don’t know how they’d take it If you said baby we need to talk this thing through Well don’t say anything, just see what the night’ll bring And do something that’s long overdue

about

Mal MacWatt & The Glass Mountains is my side project where I get to strap on an electric guitar, power up an amp and explore my love for Americana music in a band setting.
Where Blue Hour delved in the soul & blues of Americana, Twilight takes a multi-angle look at country. Both EPs were originally recorded as once album so they share the same 70s sonic.
