about

This song was a home recorded demo but it took on a life of its own and without any promotion had hundreds of plays on soundcloud. I released the actual demo as I wasn't sure I could replicate all the guitar solos!

lyrics

You said you’d enough of this town, as I was putting down my roots
You were thinking ‘bout your future, while I was chilling out with you
I say I’m in the groove, you say you’re in a rut
I say life is smooth, you say times are tough
I’m going nowhere fast, you’re slowly moving up….
I listen to my country music, while you prefer your jazz and blues
This ain’t no melody, we’re out of harmony
I didn’t think that you would ever choose to leave

CH: I want you back, I want you back
I know we can compromise
Life just ain’t the same without you
I want you back here by my side

I watched you pack your big red suitcase, I even helped you to the door
I thought she’ll be back tomorrow, a week at most, a month no more
Guess I was wrong, when am I ever right?
It’s been too long, I wish that I’d put up a fight
One year gone and I realise she’s got another life...
I listen to my country music, some nights I play her jazz and blues
All those sweet melodies, don’t mean a thing to me
I didn’t think that she would ever choose to leave

Last night I was home alone and sleeping, I heard knocking on my door
She stepped inside, arms open wide, she smiled and said my sweet boy I’m home
I can’t believe my eyes, is this a trick or treat?
My luck has changed alright, my world is made complete
She says I want you bad, and then I wake up knowing it’s a dream…

I play my country music, I play her jazz and blues
With all this melody, and all this harmony
Sometimes I forget that girl of mine is gone for good
